What's in a picture?

The other week I was looking at some of my brother's Halloween pictures. He and his best friend dressed up as those cops in the Beastie Boys' video "Sabotage." My brother's friend's costume reminded me of some pictures I had seen of my dad -- pictures from "back in the day." I told this friend and he said he'd pay money to see my dad like that. Here it is. The aviator glasses. The "mustache." The gold chain. The PERM! Where's my money, Andrew???

Seriously, though, pictures can be so many things. In this case: embarassing. But since I've been home at my mom's, I've seen so many pictures from my childhood that make me smile. I really need to back up all the photos I've taken of BB. I think I've got some great ones so far.

Speaking of BB, I can't believe I forgot to mention earlier that she is getting her first tooth! I noticed this last week and now it is just about to break through the gum. Sometimes the poor thing gets so upset from the aching, so I've been giving her a little berry sherbet here and there (she won't stick teething rings in her mouth). It works very well. Since my brother learned in his child psych class that "sugar highs" aren't real, I figure I'm not condemning myself. She's actually been going to sleep by 11pm instead of after! This has been great! I also forgot to mention that her doctor's appointment got postponed until the 30th, which seems like epochs away and she'll be 10 months by then. I really wish they didn't cancel our appointment, but oh well.

On a completely different note, I hope Emmitt Smith wins Dancing With The Stars next week. There's something weird about A.C. Slater, and his partner could use some bangs in her hairdo. Joey and his eyebrows definitely had to go, although he did kind of grow on me toward the end. Also, I am very mad that Lost is taking a 3-month hiatus. What gives? Not cool. And although Taye Diggs is gorgeous, that Daybreak show that is taking Lost's time slot just looks awful.

I like this picture for some reason. There's something off with the lighting, but that's what I like about it. Don't they make a cute couple?

This rocking horse was actually mine when I was just a few months older than BB. My little brother was just born and my grandmother thought I should have a gift. My mom obviously saves EVERYTHING. Although I've been trying to teach her to throw things away, I'm glad she saved this one.

This just shows that you don't need to buy kids a lot of toys. They have great imaginations. Don't think that BB doesn't have any toys, because that's certainly not the case, but she is always most interested in: pieces of paper & plastic, bags, any remote control, my cell phone, and my cell phone. I remember that, as a kid, we once got a new fridge and it came in a -- gasp -- BIG BOX! My brothers and I played with it all day on our front lawn until it broke. My brother and I also used to have a mud pile that we absolutely loved. Remember those ant hotels, Matt?

It is really time for bed. I need to catch up on some major sleep time, especially since I hardly slept at all last night. Excited for tomorrow (technically today) -- the weather is supposed to hit 70 degrees!!! I'm excited and will probably take BB out for a nice walk in the stroller...but I thought this was November...and New England!
