Creative Juices

I made a trip to the local craft store yesterday and bought some supplies so I could make some handmade ornaments for our tree. I got some ideas from Sally's blog (thank you for sharing) and made some Martha Stewart paper globes and pom poms.

I still have to make more, but it's a start. It's very rewarding to make things by hand -- especially things that you know you're going to save over the years. I think I'm also going to make some yarn snowflakes, too. I am obsessed with the pom poms. I need to get some red and yellow-gold yarn for more color variety. I need to call Apple support to see if my warranty will cover the gap that has emerged between my screen and the border that goes around it. BB is the culprit, and now it's difficult to keep the laptop closed. I should really do it today since I'm sure the warranty is due to expire any day now. I am jealous of my brother's new toy (the black one). It's soooo prettyyyyyy. Maybe I need a new computer, too (wink)...

Reunion: Baby #2

Oh, Apple. You are in my arms once again. My laptop is almost like my second baby. I cannot live without it. Using someone else's computer is just not the same -- especially when it is a PC (yuck!). I have access to my iPhoto library so I can provide you with some decent photos. The sun came out for a little today, but I didn't have anything interesting to photograph.

My mommy (yes, I still call her "Mommy") came to visit today! She brought over some things I had left at her house last week (like Baby #2). It was so nice to see her and to be able to talk to her in person. She gave me some wonderful (and much needed) advice and I am so happy to have her in my life.

She also brought me this little treat: a J.Crew Wellesley cable sweater. I <3 deep v-necks.

A couple we met at Ginseng came to the restaurant again while I was there with my mom. They have a daughter, Jasmine (sp?), who is turning 1 next month. BB and her friend seemed to get along very well. We've been invited to Jasmine's birthday, which is in a few weeks. I'm getting excited since there aren't many social opportunities right now for BB and me. Am looking forward to meeting some other parents.

The couple (eek, I need to learn their names...) also informed Dave of the local daycare they use and like. I think I'm going to make an appointment to check it out and get on the wait list (ugh). I would definitely love to have some kind of outlet. I love BB to death, but this 24/7 deal sure takes a toll on me sometimes. I need to be more productive and explore more things. Isn't that what being in your 20s is all about?
On a final note, BB stood up with (little) assistance! She was sitting next to Dave on our bed and hoisted herself up using his hip for support. Kid really wants to stand.

BB's taking a nap right now, so I'm taking a moment to write here and watch a little Martha Stewart. The woman is so bossy and full of it, but I love the ideas featured on the show. Notice how the opening of her show is always her in that kitchen "directing" someone to do this or that? Now she's interrupting some poor elderly lady. If you haven't noticed, she does it ALL the time. I just love how she called a $170 J.Crew cashmere cardigan a "very reasonable" buy. Maybe for her! She's crazy.

I haven't taken too many pictures in the past few days since the weather has been so gloomy and soggy. The sun is trying to peek out a bit, so hopefully that will be the trend for the rest of the week. It's amazing how a little sunlight can change a picture. I have to thank Sally for that advice. And even though we have somewhat outdated digital cameras (mine's a 2003 Sony Cybershot that takes 3.2 megapixel photos), they still take lovely pictures. Sally's pictures are an inspiration -- they're taken so beautifully and the subjects are always interesting, cute, pretty, or all of those things! Seriously check out her blog. You won't be disappointed.

I left my laptop at my mom's and am missing it. It's an iBook G4 that I got almost three years ago and it's been a great computer to me. I've never been a PC person, so I'm not really liking this desktop that I'm using. It's such a bore (sorry, G). If you're like me and gravitate towards more artistic activities when using a computer, an Apple is definitely the way to go.

I missed the UPS guy yesterday afternoon. He left the package at the main office, so I have to go pick it up soon because it's killing me! It sucks to get bills in the mail, but parcels are THE BEST!!! It might be BB's new GiddyGiddy clip!
